Lockesly Manor is ideally located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Hunt Country, just east of the village of Millwood and approximately twenty minutes west of historic Middleburg and Upperville. The estate is within easy access of Washington, DC, via Route 50 or I-66 and is forty-five minutes away from Washington's Dulles International Airport.

Reputed to be one of the most impressive Colonial Revival brick residences in Virginia, Lockesly was constructed in 1952 with extraordinary craftsmanship and intricate architectural detail. The manor house was extensively updated in 1991 and has elegant living space. A Doric-column Portico encases the swan-necked pediment with rosettes and pineapple highlights the facade. It is framed by a balustrade above and French windows with semicircular fans.

Great HallEnter the Great Hall (30'x22'), a truly formal and gracious reception area with dramatic hand carved double sweeping stairwells, elaborate molding, encased panels and gleaming random width hardwood floors. Through the double French doors is the magnificent French Drawing Room, (30"x28'), the focal point of this magnificent property, created from 18Drawing Roomth century solid wood paneling taken from a chateau in France and meticulously reassembled. It features garland, egg and dart molding, an exquisite period marble mantel and hand crafted oak parquet flooring. Three sets of French doors lead to the awning covered flagstone terrace overlooking the gardens beyond.

 

Dining Room

 

To the left of the great hall is the formal Hunt Room/Dining Room (28'x22') with walnut estate paneling and heart of pine floors. French doors leading to another flagstone terrace flank the handcrafted fireplace.

 

Library

To the right of the great hall is the Library (20'x19') featuring custom bookcases, a fireplace and four sets of French doors creating a warm and sun filled atmosphere. A French Powder Room is next to the library.

 

 

Master BedroomFrom the hallway off the library enter the Master Bedroom Suite (18'x25') through 18th century double French doors with hand painted fan above. It features imported period mirrored panels and carved marble mantel. There is a Dressing Room with built-in cabinetry and closets, adjacent to the tiled Bath.

 

The north wing contains the well-proportioned Kitchen (17'xl3') with center work island, the spacious Mud Room (9'x9') and a Butler's Pantry (6'x16').
